La Strada Contracting Company was formed in July of 1999 through the partnership of Rudy Ruiz and Leonard Ruffalo with street improvements for private home developers as the primary focus of the company. La Strada Contracting flourished and established its reputation by building millions of dollars of streets for the top builders in Southern California.
In 2005 Leonard Ruffalo, upon his retirement, sold his interest in the company to Steve Stein, the owner of Bova Contracting. Mr. Stein was successful and well known in the pipeline sector. The ultimate plan with this partnership was to provide the developer with a comprehensive and cost effective package which encompassed the installation of wet utilities and street improvements.
La Strada Contracting experienced success early on with this strategy, but the current market conditions coupled with the logistical challenges of running joint projects with separate corporations prevented the plan from reaching fruition.
In 2008 Mr. Stein's decision to retire necessitated the dissolution of Bova Contracting. In 2009, by the sale of his interest in La Strada Contracting Company, Rudy Ruiz became and remains the sole owner. Mr. Ruiz and the La Strada Contracting family stand poised to further that original goal of offering the unique and economical option of having one company develop your property from the installation of the wet utilities, to building the streets, curb/gutter and sidewalks.
